Join The Algorithmic Bridge, a blog about AI that’s actually about people.

“Medium is much better than Substack, it has discoverability. Your first-ever article could go viral and be read by 30 million people!”

“No! Substack is so much more better than Medium. It’s not mediated by an unpredictable algorithm that will bury your pieces even if your follower count is on the 6 digits!”

You’re both wrong, kids. Drop the partisanship and take a cooperative lens instead. The companies that own the platforms compete against one another. Fine. Reasonable even.

You, on the other hand, are free.

That freedom is your superpower.

Don’t let your identity get entangled with Medium or Substack or whatever other platform has caught your eye recently (was it Ghost, or Beehiiv, or… please not X). They do what’s best for them — no judging here, just how capitalism works — so do the same.

Do. The. Same.

Play the game under your own rules.

Rule number 1: You’re free.
