I don't think they'd stop the war just because there's no reliable way to parse reality - for us. Justification for war needn't be based on reality. We have a lot of examples of that...

Also, we don't know what they really know about what's happening. The degree of quality of their sources is way higher than what we get.

And even if they weren't getting 100% certain info, they'd play with what they had.
