I don't think "changing the world" ever means changing it completely. ML/DL have already changed the world in significant ways.

I think AI systems today do a great job at what they do, that's for sure. We all use AI in some way in our daily lives and it's proving to be very useful.

Actually, I was working to create a bidirectional real-time sign language translator and we made some important advances.

But one thing is solving a problem and another thing is understand the underlying meaning. DL solves some problems but it explains nothing. Understanding is what I'm interested in.
