There are two different approaches to AI. One focuses on producing fine solutions to existing problems. Deep learning products and services have found great success on this part.

The other focuses on understanding intelligence, the human brain, an advancing science generally. This approach isn't driven by usefulness, but by curiosity. and hunger for truth and knowledge.

Both are necessarily intertwined. Or at least they were at the beginning. Now, and that's the main argument of this article, both approaches are following different paths. We won't get to AGI with machine learning as it's today.
